The challenge of combating climate change is becoming more pressing as governments struggle to take decisive action. It can be very discouraging when we hear that governments cannot agree on global CO2 reduction targets, while our dependency upon fossil fuel continues and our energy bills increase at home.
The Tarvin Environment Group was formed by a group of local volunteers who are interested in tackling these issues by exploring initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint, reducing our energy consumption and improving our local environment. A copy of our constitution is now available here.
The Group, who have the support of Tarvin Parish Council, work as a forum in the local community to promote projects that develop a more sustainable lifestyle and to provide information, support and encouragement.
Officers are nominated and elected at our AGM.
Chairman - Jim Wigan
Secretary - Hilary Banner
Treasurer - Andrew Evans
TEG members are local residents who have an interest in environmental concerns and the development of Tarvin as a sustainable community. Members form our Steering Group and are asked to attend our monthly meetings to discuss ideas and community issues. Our meetings are open to all, so if you have an issue you would like to raise, a project you would like to get involved with or would simply like to show your support please come along and meet us.
We are very keen for local residents and business to join our group and will warmly welcome any suggestions or experiences that you would like to share.
Whether at home or at work we would like to share ideas for improving energy efficiency - and help bring down those energy bills! We will also investigate renewable energy projects.
Promote the reuse, reduction and recycling of resources to help minimise the amount of rubbish sent to landfill.
Create an awareness of the damage caused by unnecessary traffic and consider how best local transport can be managed more efficiently.
